A clean white dupatta with Madhubani art painted along both borders and sun motifs in red and yellow across the body. Simple to style, and it always gets noticed.
Madhubani is the folk painting tradition of Mithila in Bihar, known for bold outlines, fine line filling and bright natural-inspired colours. On this dupatta, the long borders carry a twisting lotus pattern in red and yellow with a black zigzag edge, and the sun motifs are painted by hand one at a time. White tassels finish the ends. It also suits the Chhath Puja season, when sun motifs are close to the heart of the festival.
Wear it with: a plain kurta in any solid colour, a cotton or linen saree, or jeans and a kurti for a day look with some art in it. It also makes a thoughtful gift.
- Fabric: soft, breathable cotton linen blend
- Work: hand painted Madhubani art, borders and sun motifs
- Colour: white with red, yellow and black
- Finish: tassels at both ends
- Occasions: Chhath Puja, festivals, daily wear, gifting
- Care: gentle hand wash separately in cold water, do not scrub the painted areas, dry in shade and iron on low heat from the reverse side.
Every piece is painted by hand, so motif placement and shades can vary slightly from the photos.
